Ghetto (originally planned location)
The plan of the city brought by the occupation troops to Mogilev has been preserved (see photo).
Initially, the ghetto was supposed to be located on the territory of the city quarter called Podnikolye. Some "Russian" families were evicted from here to other neighbourhoods. However, neither the Russian nor the Jewish population was satisfied with the location of the ghetto.
On the photo are the plans of the Jewish ghetto: the original plan (marked as Judenviertel on the map) in the area of Bolshaya Grazhdanskaya and Pokrovskaya streets, and a tentative plan of the existing ghetto (marked above left) in the area of the Dubrovenka River.
The first plan was prepared by the Nazis, probably before they invaded Mogilev.
Found in GAMA by I. Pushkin. The plan of the ghetto in the area of Dubrovenka was reconstructed by I. Shandarovich. GAMA, f.260, op.1, d.146, fol. 2.
